Scouting the Territory
Since posting my initial blog post my topic on College drinking has not changed but has been refined. At first, I was going to focus on both alcohol and drugs, but since researching some more I decided to focus on mainly alcohol and college drinking culture. While looking up the topic, I found that a keyword that helped to narrow down choices for researching my topic was the word statistics. I found many articles varying from blog posts, to scholarly articles, statistic sheets, etc. Wikipedia describes general ideas, such as binge drinking and peer pressure, but does not provide specific statistics that I would like to include in my essay. Wikipedia also describes more specific topics, like health concerns and the effect of alcohol on academic life. I found two articles on google scholar that stood out to me, one which covers the problems of college drinking by UMich.
